Korea's First Institute of Higher Education: Bosung College (1905-1945)
May 1905 Bosung College founded; Mr Hae-Young Shin inaugurated as first President
Dec. 1921 Bosung College Foundation established
Mar. 1932 Choongang Educational Foundation assumed Bosung College
Sep. 1934 Construction of Anam Campus completed
Sep. 1934 Central Library opened in commemoration of KU's 30th Anniversary
Sanctuary of Libertas, Justitia and Veritas The Beginning of
Korea University (1946-1959)
Aug. 1946 Changed to "Korea University": Colleges of Political Science and Law, Economics and Commerce, and Liberal Arts founded; Sang-Yun Hyun inaugurated as first university President
Sep. 1949 Graduate School established
May 1955 50th Anniversary; New school song created
Vanguard of Intellectualism and Democracy (1960-1981)
April 1960 Landmark protest by about 3,000 KU students for democratic reform (April 18)
May 1962 First Granite Tower Festival; University Museum opened
Dec. 1971 Merged with Woosuk University; New school gate constructed
Mar. 1978 New Central Library opened in commemoration of KU's 70th Anniversary
New Restoration Era (1982-1993)
Sep. 1983 Guro Hospital opened; Science Library opened
May 1991 First 'KU People's Day' held

May 1995 Alumni Association Building opened
Dec. 1995 KU's Life Science and Biotechnology School chosen as governmental support institute
June 1996 Korea University Techno Complex completed
Dec. 1997 International Foundation for Korea University Inc. established
Sep. 1999 5 fields in science and 10 core fields selected for Brain Korea21 (BK21) initiative by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development; Korean Studies Hall completed
Dec. 1999 3 fields in liberal arts and social sciences and 3 core fields selected for BK21 initiative by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development
Toward Millennium as a Global University (2000-2004)
April 2000 Planning Project for Centennial Celebration launched
May 2000 Life Science and Biotechnology Building completed
Mar 2002 Central Plaza, largest underground complex facility of its kind, completed
Aug. 2003 LG-POSCO Business School Building, one of the most advanced business school buildings, completed; Woo Dang Hall with amphitheater classrooms and IBS system completed
Sep. 2003 Selected as outstanding university in the field of globalization by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources

Aug. 2005 KU Business School (undergraduate and graduate studies) and Graduate School of Business acquired AACSB accreditation
Sep. 2005 Acquired excellent rating (AAA) from Korea Credit Assessment
Oct. 2005 Ranked 184th among the world's most prestigious universities by The Times ' World University Rankings (66th in Social Sciences field and 89th in Humanities); Time Capsule Sealing Ceremony
Dec. 2005 Ranked 2nd among Korean universities in area of National Consumer Satisfaction Index (NCSI) surveyed by the Korea Productivity Center and Chosun Ilbo (nationwide daily newspaper)
May 2006 The 101st anniversary was celebrated.
Sep. 2006 On the Science Campus, Hanna Square was completed.
Nov. 2006 Georgia Institute of Technology and Korea University agreed to open a joint master degree program in the field of 'Embedded SW.'
Feb. 2007 The completion ceremony of Hae-Song Law Library was held.
May 2007 The 102nd anniversary of Korea University and the centennial of KU Alumni Association were celebrated.
Nov. 2007 The completion ceremony of Dongwon Global Leadership Hall was held
Feb. 2008 Dr. LEE Ki-Su was inaugurated as the 17th President of Korea University.
Mar. 2008 The Seochang Campus got renamed as 'Sejong Campus.'
May 2008 Korea University held its 103rd Anniversary Ceremony and announced its vision with the new motto, "Global KU - Frontier Spirit."
July 2008 The cornerstone for a new university dormitory was laid.
Aug. 2008 Samsung Electronics Co. and Korea University agreed to open joint master's and doctoral programs in the field of mobile solution.
May 2009 U21 Annual Presidents' Meeting & Symposium was held
May 2009 The world's 14 nations agreed on the conferment of the Joint Doctorate
Aug. 2009 University President's forum on Asia & Africa was held
April 2010 Established International One Stop Service Center
Nov. 2010 Signed an Academic exchange agreement with King Saud University
Feb. 2011 Signed an Academic exchange agreement with Ankara university and Bilkent University in Turkey
