KU Offers Exchange Student Experience at California State University in the US
The university has signed a student exchange agreement with the California State University System in the US.
On October 4 (US time), Korea University signed a student exchange agreement with the US California State University System (CSU System). Through the agreement, KU can exchange up to 20 students per year with students at 23 universities affiliated with the CSU System. By signing the agreement this time, the university has become involved in two student exchange agreements; one with the UC (University of California) System and the other with the CSU System.
The university also plans to open a local office in the CSU System to expand the range of inter-university cooperation including short-term programs (International Summer / Winter Campus programs), graduate schools, research projects, and joint degree programs.

Students at Korea University now have the opportunity to study subjects in their major at popular cities like LA in the state of California, a destination named by most KU attendees as a place where the hope to visit and study abroad. The exchange student program is particularly popular among students who, once accepted to the program, can study at one of the sister universities in the US by paying tuition only to Korea University and receiving an exemption from tuition fees to the sister university.
In August 2021, Korea University signed another large-scale student exchange agreement with the University of California System. Through the agreement, the university could send up to 200 students per year to the UC System, which consisted of 10 major universities, including the UC Berkeley and UCLA.
The California State University is composed of the academic research-oriented UC System and the practical-study-oriented CSU System. The two systems have different focuses in terms of educational management. While the UC System aims to achieve a high-level of academic accomplishment, the CSU System is known for affordable tuition fees, high employment rate, and practical academic programs.
Korea University is currently connected to more than 1,000 universities and institutions from 99 countries around the world. Through this network, KU students are sent as exchange students to universities abroad to broaden their perspectives and see the world, while foreign students are given opportunities to come to Korea and learn about Korean culture and society during their stay, ultimately promoting Korea to the world.
