Guidelines for Academic Advisors’ Designated Courses (mandatory for new students)

2026.08.20

What Are Advisor-Designated Courses?

Advisor-designated courses are additional courses that students are required to complete beyond the minimum number of credits required for their degree program (24 credits for a master’s degree and 36 credits for a doctoral degree).

These additional credits are required for degree completion but are not counted toward the required major credits.

Approval Request Procedure (Required Submission)

Students must consult with their academic advisor regarding the designated courses before the beginning of the semester and then apply for the advisor-designated courses and obtain final approval according to the procedure below.

(Please bring an official transcript from your previous university (or graduate school) when consulting with your academic advisor.)
