Announcement of the Graduate School Foreign Language Exam
We hereby announce the schedule for the Graduate School Foreign Language Exam for Fall Semester 2025.
※ This notice is only for Korean and other language exams except English. Details for English exam will be announced separately by the Foreign Language Education Center.
1. Eligibility: Students in the Master's and Doctoral programs (including the Integrated Master's and Doctoral program) of Korea University Graduate School
a. Examination Requirements
*International Students can not choose their own language as a first or secondary language exam. Please check the internal regulations of each department.
b. Secondary Foreign Language for the Doctoral Degree Program:
- this requirement is only for following 16 departments.
| Law, Korean Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Chinese and Japanese Language and Literature, Russian Language and Literature, French Language and Literature, German Language and Literature, Spanish Language and Literature, Historical Studies, Sociology, Linguistics, Philosophy, Theory of Comparative Literature and Comparative Culture (interdisciplinary), Visual Culture (interdisciplinary), Cultural Heritage Studies (interdisciplinary), Department of Archaeology and Art History |
c. Foreigners in the following department must take the Korean language test.
| Classics Translation, Cultural Heritage Studies (Interdisciplinary), Korean Language and Literature, Historical Studies, Program in Public Health, Law(Doctoral Degree), Department of Media and Communication(To be applied starting with new students in Fall 2025) |
2. Subjects: Korean, German, French, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Spanish, Classical Chinese

3. Application Method and Period
a. Application(online): KUPID > Registration/Graduation > Application/Verification for exams > Application for second foreign language exam
b. Period : July 30, 2025 (Wed) 10:00 AM ~ August 10, 2025 (Sunday) 4:00 PM
※ Online application submission after this period will not be accepted.
4. Application Fee Payment
a. Application Fee: 50,000 KRW per subject (20,000 KRW for Classical Chinese)
b. Payment Method: Bank account transfer after portal registration.
1) Bank Account: Hana Bank 391-910010-71604
(Account Holder: 고려대학교 대학원수험료)
2) How to Indicate the Depositor
(1) Indicate your name and the last three digits of your student ID (e.g., Hong Gil-dong123)
(2) For accurate verification, international students may send the payment receipt(proof of payment) to the following email. (Email address: graduate2@korea.ac.kr)
※ Please be aware that any issues arising from unverified depositors are the responsibility of the individual.
c. Payment Period: July 30, 2025 (Wed) 10:00 AM ~ August 11, 2025 (Monday) 4:00 PM
※ Payment after this period will not be accepted.
5. Examination
a. Exam Date and Time: September 6, 2025 (Saturday), 10:00 AM ~ 11:20 AM (This schedule is subject to change)
b. Exam Venue: Woo-Dang Hall (tentative)
※ The applicants must arrive at the venue by 9:40 AM. Entry will not be allowed after 10:00 AM.
6. Results: October 13, 2025 (Monday) at 10:00 AM
※ Please check your result online at: KUPID > Registration/Graduation > Application/Verification for exams > Current status of exam
7. Other Information
a. Please make sure to bring your ID and writing tools(must be non-electronic; any type is acceptable).
b. Applicants who have not paid the application fee will not be allowed to take the exam.
c. Book dictionaries are allowed; however, borrowing or exchanging dictionaries between candidates is not permitted(electronic devices such as mobile phones, electronic dictionaries, etc. are strictly prohibited).
d. The exam consists of subjective questions. The Korean language exam will be divided into separate sections for humanities and social sciences, natural science, and medicine.
