K-STAR Visa Track Application (Spring 2026)

   - Students and graduates of both Seoul and Sejong Campuses are eligible to apply; however, procedures and required documents, deadlines etc. may vary by campus.

The K-STAR Visa Track is a program operated by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea to support outstanding international talents in science and technology fields who have been trained at Korean universities. The program aims to help qualified students settle in Korea and continue their research, employment, or other professional activities after graduation.

As Korea University has been selected to participate in this program, the University may recommend qualified candidates based on their academic and research performance. Selected candidates will receive a recommendation letter issued under the name of the President of Korea University and may apply for the K-STAR residence status (F-2-7S).

  *All application documents must be prepared and submitted in Korean, as this program is intended for outstanding talents who wish to settle and continue their research activities in Korea.
  * This English translation is provided for reference only. In the event of any discrepancy or difference in interpretation between the Korean and English versions, the Korean version shall prevail.


1. Benefits
 Selected candidates may be eligible to apply for the K-STAR residence status (F-2-7S).
  1) Residence in Korea regardless of employment status
  2) Initial stay of up to five years

2. Eligibility
 Applicants must be international graduate students who:
  1) Are expected to obtain a master’s or doctoral degree from Korea University in August 2026, or have obtained such degree in or after August 2025
  2) Are in science and technology-related fields; and
   *For detailed information on eligible science and technology-related fields, please refer to '국가과학기술표준분류체계' in the attached application guidelines.
  3) Demonstrate research competency and the intention to continue research, employment, entrepreneurship, or long-term settlement in Korea.

3. Application Schedule
 1) Application period: May 18 – June 7, 2026
  *Please note that the application period may vary slightly depending on the department. Applicants are advised to refer to any separate announcements or instructions provided by their department.
 2) Review and interview: June 8 – June 17, 2026
 3) Final result announcement: July 4, 2026 (TBA)
