Recruitment for the 2nd Language Exchange Program, 2026

The Graduate School Administration Team is pleased to announce the recruitment of participants for the 2nd Language Exchange Program for 2026.
This program is designed to support language and cultural exchange between international and Korean graduate students at Korea University. We encourage interested students to apply.
Program Overview
Participants will be matched into teams of Korean and international students based on their requested languages and will engage in mutual language and cultural exchange.
Teams are expected to meet voluntarily at least once a week for language exchange activities.
Scholarships will be awarded to selected outstanding teams after completion of the program, provided that all requirements are fulfilled.
Eligibility
Korean and international graduate students enrolled at the Seoul Campus of Korea University
※ Undergraduate students are not eligible to participate.

※ All announcements, including the matching results, will be sent to the email address provided in the application form. Please make sure to enter an email address that you check regularly.
Team Matching Results
Team matching results will be announced by July 13, 2026.
Teams will be matched based on the following criteria:
- Language(s) participants can teach
- First and second choices of language(s) participants wish to learn
- Preference for online/offline meetings
- Other relevant factors
※ Depending on the applicant pool, including nationality and language availability, the number of members per team and nationality ratio may vary. Participation may not be possible if there are no suitable matching applicants.
For example, if a student selects Japanese as both their first and second language choices but there are no Japanese nationals or students who can teach Japanese, matching may not be possible.
※ Students who become unreachable after team matching or withdraw from the program without notice will not be allowed to participate in future Language Exchange Programs.
Orientation
Orientation materials will be uploaded to Google Drive on July 14, 2026.
Since the orientation will provide important information about the overall program, all participants are required to watch/read the materials.

Outstanding Team Scholarship
Outstanding teams will be selected after the program ends based on submitted assignments and the level of active participation.
- Grand Prize Team: KRW 400,000
- Outstanding Team: KRW 300,000
※ When selecting outstanding teams, the Graduate School Administration Team will designate the student who will receive the scholarship. If the designated student is unable to receive the scholarship due to withdrawal, account suspension, or other unavoidable circumstances, the team may request a change of recipient by emailing the administration team.
Completion Requirements
To complete the program, participants must submit the following:
- Activity Plan: Team submission
- Midterm and Final Reports: Individual submission
- Final Presentation Video: Team submission

August 8 – August 10, 2026
Applications submitted after this period will not be accepted.

Notes
- The above schedule is subject to change.
- All announcements will be sent via email.
- Students who previously withdrew from the Language Exchange Program without notice, became unreachable, or received low peer evaluation scores may be excluded from selection.
- If a participant becomes unreachable, withdraws without notice, or shows a low participation rate during the program, please contact GraduateOIH@korea.ac.kr.

For the final presentation activity, the team leader will give a 3-minute introduction on how the team carried out language exchange during the program. Each team member will then give a 1-minute speech in the language they learned. Teams must submit an edited presentation video along with the presentation materials.
